Gimo’s Italiana

What began as a small leather workshop in 1968 has now expanded into a global fashion house under the guidance of founder, Mr. Renzo Girardin, and his family. Today, the company is known for using high-quality materials and innovative techniques to create both classic and contemporary styles. Design duties are shared by Sabrina Girardin and Mr. Girardin’s son, Massimo. The focus of the women’s line is on femininity with beautiful details – distinctive buttons, asymmetrical closures, or ruffle trims. For men, styles are clean cut with subtle details – hardware closures, leather flanges or epaulettes. From the Gimo’s collection, York Furrier features supple leathers for both men and women, as well as down jackets and fashionable rainwear for her.

Fontani

In 1953, Claudio Fontani with help from his mother opened the doors to a small Florence area workshop and began creating hand crafted leather and fabric coats. Through the decades, the company took on several partners and increased its size and capacity. In 1982, the Fontani family regained full control of the company and renamed it, Linea Fontani Company with Claudio and his sons at the helm. During the next decade, the company expanded its offering to include furs and shearlings. In the ‘90’s, son Paolo began wholesaling the company’s product mix to Russia, Japan and the United States. Each season, the styles are revamped to stay modern; yet, the sense of femininity and elegance is always present. Inspired by the beautiful surroundings in Tuscany, the Fontani Family (in its 4th generation!) creates works of art to be worn by woman who enjoy every moment.  Using the best lamb leathers, suede, Nappa and Merino sheepskin and shearling, as well as goose down, and cashmere, this season’s collection is absolutely beautiful.  York Furrier in the Elmhurst City Centre showcases a fashionable mix of Fontani garments.

Allegri

Primarily a specialty rainwear company started in 1954 by brothers Allegro and Renato Allegri, this Italian design firm is now run by Pietro Allegri (President) along with Augusto and Dianora Allegri and has developed an international reputation for its patented techno fabrics as well as its classic trench styles. Through the decades, licensing agreements with Giorgio Armani, Romeo Gigli, the Dutch duo, Viktor and Rolf, Neil Barrett, and Pirelli, have allowed the company to expand on product offerings. Today, the company’s in-house designer, Mauro Ravizza Krieger, is considered the “architect of fabrics.” He has “built” three solid lines for the company: a luxury line; one for work and travel; and a high performance techno material line. Research and experimentation from the company has led to fabrics that are lightweight, wind proof, water proof, ultra soft, crease resistant and durable. In particular, the “Ironside” fabric made of nylon fiber and steel thread is practically indestructible. Find these stylish yet sturdy award winning rainwear fashions at York Furrier.
